This is what I get for delaying the latest MMO Spelunk. I have nearly two dozen different stories all covering new media, interviews, and screenshots to showcase and not enough time to do them. Why must the internet torture me so? I guess I bring it on myself.
So before I begin griping some more, Let’s get to it and show off what has come out this past week in the latest Spelunk into the MMO Underground.
Blacklight Retribution
Developer Diary 5 is out for Zombie Studios MMOFPS. In this diary, the developer’s discuss character customization, the HRV display mode, dynamic spawning, gameplay modes, and more.
City of Heroes
This latest video talks about the Signature Story arcs and the Freedom Phalanx. I’m not one hundred percent sure, but I think I heard at one point in the video that the Freedom Phalanx are now the guess list for death. Not sure if this applies to the Death of Statesman story arc or not. So this leaves me with the question, “Will more heroes die?”
Star Trek Online
Star Trek Online officially went Free-to-Play on the 17th and showed off a new trailer to boot. Now, I know STO had a lackluster launch and I am not a fan of most Cryptic games. However, I am such a Star Trek fan that I want to try this out… and now I can for free. Visit Star Trek Online’s Site to download the game. If you’re not interested in delving into Star Trek, then enjoy the trailer.
Traveller AR
Based on the Traveller RPG series, Traveller AR will soon be coming to the iOS platform with the choice of three playable races the Solomani, Zhodani, and Vilani; three playable classes in the form of Scout, Spacer, or Trader; and 40,000 unique solar systems. I like big numbers like that.
The trailer gives you an impression of what you can expect the gameplay to be like, zooming around space, fighting other players, and visiting stations to purchase materials and upgrades.
Xyson
Xyson, an upcoming post apocalyptic sandbox MMO, added a new section to their website’s galleries. The cool part of this gallery is the fact it is all player creations, not promotional material. You can take a look at what the players have built here
World of Darkness
For those wondering what has been happening with the world of Darkness MMO in lieu of the layoffs over at CCP that directly affected the World of Darkness staff, Chris McDonough is here to allay your fears. Chris McDonough, senior producer behind the World of Darkness MMO, sat down with an interview with gamerlive.tv to talk about what they are doing in development and how working for CCP has helped the design of this game.
